POECU Donates to Second Harvest
As part of our commitment to helping our community in times of need, we are donating $500 to Second Harvest Food Bank, which will help provide 2,000 meals to those in need. This donation came from the food budget for our Annual Meeting. As we are going virtual this year, we took the opportunity to give back to the community we love.
As many know, Second Harvest Food Bank “leads the fight against hunger in South Louisiana by providing food access, advocacy, education, and disaster response. Second Harvest provides food and support to 700+ community partners and programs across 23 parishes.”
COVID-19 has put an overwhelming demand on the local food bank as more and more families are in danger of going hungry. Second Harvest has stepped up to the plate during the global pandemic and has become a guiding light to helping those in our community.
We are honored to donate to such a great cause. If you would like to contribute to Second Harvest Food Bank, they are currently in need of cash donations, food, and cleaning supplies. We have provided a link below to their donations page.
POECU is challenging other credit unions to join us in donating to Second Harvesters Food Bank (or similar non-profit organizations) to help feed those within our communities!
