GUY C. COMES MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT - 2024
Post Office Employees’ Credit Union (POECU) has awarded the 2024 Guy C. Comes $1,000 Memorial Scholarship to Nathan Ruda. Nathan is the son of Vincent and Lynn Ruda and is a 2024 graduate of Northshore High School in Slidell, Louisiana.
Mr. Ruda graduated with a cumulative grade point average of 4.24 and has already earned 36 dual enrollment college credit hours through the academically rigorous Advanced Placement testing program and dual enrollment classes. He was a member of the National Honor Society and Northshore BETA club.
Nathan excelled not only in academics, but also in athletics as a member of Northshore High School’s Track and Field Team, the Cross Country Team, and the Powerlifting Team. In addition, he also showed a devotion to music through his 4 years playing percussion instruments in the Northshore Panther Pride Marching Band.
Mr. Ruda’s future plans include attending Mississippi State University where he plans to study Civil Engineering. His interest specifically in structural engineering stems from the realization that the projects and structures he will create will be used by millions of people during its lifetime which makes a stong positive impact on the community and the world.
Nathan is pictured above with POECU CEO Michelle Duhe receiving his award.
This scholarship was established in memory of Guy C. Comes who served on POECU’s Board of Directors for 49 years with 25 of those years as Board Chairman. This scholarship is open to POECU members graduating from high school and is based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities and social responsibility.
