POECU donates $500 to the New Orleans Women and Children’s Shelter

As part of our efforts to serve our community, Post Office Employees’ Credit Union has donated $500 to the New Orleans Women and Children’s Shelter in honor of International Credit Union Day.

The New Orleans Women and Children’s shelter helps families “transition from a life of homelessness and poverty to one of stability and self-sufficiency.”

The shelter opened immediately after Hurricane Katrina to help serve the immediate needs of displaced women and their children. Now, the shelter serves single mother-led families and women in all stages of pregnancy. They recently opened a second shelter to serve single father-led families as well.

We are proud to support this incredible non-profit as they work to support the families of our community.
