Congratulations to our 2018 National Youth Saving Challenge Winner!

This year, we held the National Youth Saving Challenge to encourage the youths in our community to begin saving money towards long term goals. We had many entries, and our winner this year is Nicholas Woodfork!

Nicholas is a student at Holy Cross, headed into sixth grade, and he’s already got his eye on college. “I’ve been saving for so long. Grandpa told me how much I had in my savings when I was five or six, and I’ve been saving since,” said Nicholas. “Most of all, I am saving for college. When I pick up something that I want to buy, I put it down because I know I’d rather put that money towards college.”

Nicholas isn’t sure of the exact university he wants to attend yet, but his sights are set out of state. “California and Florida are both in the picture; Michigan too.” Mr. Woodfork, his grandfather, chimed in to say that Harvard is an option too.

When asked if he has any thoughts on what he might like to major in, Nicholas replied, “I was thinking about sports medicine, but I go through a lot of phases. I was also thinking about maybe going into digital arts, because I’ve really liked art since I was eight. I’ll know for sure what I want to do by ninth grade.”

We can tell that Nicholas in on track to being a successful student and a successful saver! He has some amazing role models to follow, and is a very determined and bright young man. We wish you all the best, Nicholas! Congratulations on winning the 2018 National Youth Saving Challenge!
